Chapter 1: The Awakening
The sun was setting on the old rundown warehouse for another night. Drake sat up in his coffin wondering how he came to be in this little resort town and then it hit him, the elders had banished him here because of that girl he killed in Ohio. She was a pretty girl of about sixteen, and was suppose to be a creature like him, but she refused to drink from him, so he killed her. That was when things went wrong, now here he was living in a warehouse and avoiding the local gangs for he was new.
His mind then turned to the gypsy girl he’d seen the night before at the boardwalk, the locals call it. How she shined with her long black hair and deer like eyes ,but when she kissed that blonde boy and climbed on his motorcycle, fury burned inside of him. He knew she noticed him and then ignored him like a piece of paper on the ground. Drake vowed he would see her again, but for know he must feed.
Walking into the comic store Sam could not believe his eyes. He knew the lost boys were back, but never thought they would come in here. Trying to move around the one with long dark hair, Sam flinched when he moved toward him. Even Star was with them, holding onto David with a look of pure lust in her eyes. Micheal really screwed up with her and now she was back where she wanted to be. Edgar was behind the counter watching the boys with wary eyes.
Alan just looked annoyed with the whole thing and Sam decided he would talk with Star, just to see how she was, but he had to deal with David to and he scared the life out of Sam.
“Um Star, I just thought I would come over and say how nice it is to see you again. You look very happy, and if you guys ever want to hang out or something just let me know.”
Before Star could reply, her gaze went to the front of the store. There standing with a sly grin on his face was the man she saw last night. He was looking at her as if he owned her and she pressed herself closer to David for protection. Then to her disbelief he walked in and stood before her.
Looking David over once he snarled, and proceeded to talk with Star, who was uncertain as to why he wanted her.
“I could not help but notice that you seem to be out of place with these boys. Why not come with me and live the life a vampire should live? One of luxury and wealth.”
David had enough of this new force and made it clear that Star was his lifemate and no one else’s. Putting an evil grin on his face David put Star behind him as the other boys put a protective circle around her.
“First of all she is mine. Second this is our town and we don’t like others trying to make it their own. So if you want to live to see another night I suggest you leave and forget about Star.”
Looking over this boy with distaste, Drake smiled and before he left the store looked at Star one more time. He knew she would be his, and he always got what he wants.
Chapter Two: A New Home
Drake could not believe his luck. Who would have thought that old couple he killed would be rich, with a big house on top of the hill overlooking everything. Not him, that was for certain. Anyway this place would serve nicely. He could not bring Star to live in the warehouse, and now he had a house fit for a queen, and that’s what she would be... his queen. But now the sun was coming up and he needed his sleep. Tonight he would fix the windows, he didn’t mind one night of discomfort, when he would have a lifetime of nights in Star’s arms.
Star lay wrapped in David’s protective embrace and made circles on his chest. She had a blissful smile on her face; she had forgotten what it was like to make love to another vampire, and David had re- educated her many times of the course of three months. But still there was the nagging feeling that this new vampire caused in her, and for the life of her she could not fathom why he made her uneasy. Why did he want her, and what did the others think about this stranger who came into their lives?
Pushing away these thoughts she looked at David’s face. Oh how she loved him, and he loved her. They were lifemates, and they were happy, and at that moment she knew she could never leave him.
Sensing Star’s eyes on him, David looked down at the girl in his arms. He was still in shock that she came back to him, but he was happy. Of course he had missed her and mourned the loss of her love, but she was back and he would never let her go.
Then out of no where the stranger flashed in his mind; he wanted Star and that didn’t sit well with David and the others. They would protect her no matter what--of this he was certain.
Kissing the top of her head and then her lips he told her to sleep, and she did, still wrapped in David’s arms, feeling protected and loved.
Night fall came early and Paul was the first up, and being the jokester that he was walked quietly over to the four-poster bed and motioned for Star to move. As she stood next to Marko and Dwayne all had to hide the giggles that were coming forth. David would be livid for this, but he wouldn’t be too angry with Paul, because they were friends.
Pulling back the covers of the bed, Paul lay where Star was moments before, and placed David’s arm over him.
Suddenly knowing something as amiss, David opened his eyes to see Paul and hear from his friend a very seductive reply.
“Well David you stud, was it good for you? it was for me.”
Jumping from the bed David chased Paul around the cave as the others stood laughing. Catching Star around the waist David’s eyes mirrored her amusement and promised her retribution for being a part of the joke. Life was good for the vampire’s and the only dark point was this stranger who wanted star. David made her a vow she would come to no harm as long as the boys were around.
Drake watched the group get off their motorcycles and found the fury growing. How could she love that boy, and not him?
She laughed and smiled at them all and all along casting scared glances over her shoulder.
Drake thought evilly to himself, “Oh my beauty, you have reason to be afraid but not for you, but the boys who walk with you.”
Looking at Star he placed the thought in her head that she would be his and time would take care of the rest.
Star was frantic. She got the message from the other vampire, and then couldn’t find him. Looking at the boys, she was glad they didn’t pick up on it, or there would be trouble. They have all grown very protective of her the last couple of months and she feared that would be the end of them.
Knowing she loved the carousel, Dwayne asked her to go with him for a ride on it. Nodding her head she followed her friend, but keeping an eye on her surroundings.
Dwayne could sense her fear and wanted to help her. And that’s when he noticed the stanger watching her from the shadows.
Drake was growing amused with the way things were turning out. Soon they would all know of his presence and leave the girl unprotected, which is the way he wanted it.
Smiling to himself, Drake left the alley and walked to the old woman selling flowers from a little cart. Picking a red rose he watched as his plan fell into place. The four boys were leaving the girl, and now was his chance to steal her away before they got back.
The boys knew something was not right; they could smell it in the air. But what was it? Marco was the first to pick up on it, and tell the others. They left Star by the ride and told her to run if anything should happen. All hoped she would listen.
Suddenly Paul noticed the smell; it made his blood sing, for it was a smell they all knew well. Walking into the alley they found the source of the bad feeling they had. Laying in front of them was a girl of about seventeen with her throat torn open and fresh blood still oozing out of the hole.
Standing around the body, Dwayne suddenly pitched forward, his head felt like lead, and knew Star was sending him a message. She was in trouble.
Grabbing the boys, they raced back to the carousel, but she was gone. Left behind was the necklace David gave her the night she finally turned. Picking up the jewlery, they went back to their bikes, Star the only thought in their heads, each hoping it wouldn’t be to late.
Chapter Three: Welcome
Carrying Star into the house, Drake put her on the sofa and draped a red blanket around her. It was all so perfect; she never had a chance to run. Leaving the necklace behind wasn’t suppose to happen, but it didn’t matter. She was here now and those four boys will never get a chance to see her again.
Looking at her now, he thought again about how beautiful she really was. Life was going to be very interesting with her around.
Star woke up to see a vase of red roses sitting next to her on the table, but where was the man who put them there, and why was she here to begin with? She should be with David and the boys on the boardwalk. Sitting up she saw that she was alone. Looking for a way out, she felt so alone. Using her new vampire powers she sent a message to Paul; he would know what to do. She only hoped he got the message before it was to late.
Walking into the room, Drake saw her sitting up and decided it was time to tell her about himself. Putting a smile on his face he sat next to her and began his tale.
“I grew up in France. It was a beautiful country, and the times i spent as a child playing in the fields behind my house were happy ones. My parents were poor, farming the fields for our supper and selling the rest for a profit. At the age of sixteen, I had a girlfriend; she was exquisite, and our love was special. Her family was rich beyond your wildest dreams, and soon they found out about us. Her father put a stop to our love and made her marry a prestigious boy in the neighborhood. I never saw her again. I lived in misery after that, going to taverns and brothels just to lose myself.
“That’s when I met Max. I understand you know him, so you know he could be very persuasive. Anyway, he knew of my pain and promised to make it better for me. How could I refuse? So going with him, he took me to his loft and offered me this bottle. Thinking it was wine I drank, but you see, my beauty, life had in store for me something grander then plowing fields, and Max brought it to reality.
“As you know, I spent the good portion of my life doing as our kind does. I fed on humans without remorse and loved it for I was immortal, until I went to Ohio and met this young girl. She was special, I knew this, and wanted her power and knowledge. So following her home, I attacked. I didn’t want to kill her; she was to be with me forever, but she fought me and I drank to much. She died three nights later.
“The high counsel heard of this and sent me here, and that’s when I saw you. I knew I had to have you, and so you see, you shall spend eternity with me. We can rule this town and all who dwell here. Will you give me a chance?”
Star could not believe this. All she wanted to do was be with her boys, and get away from this madman. Puting a blank look on her face she sent another message to Paul, telling him she needed them. Her only hope was that he got the message and soon.
Paul sat on the couch next to Marco with his head in his hands. How could he do this? He was suppose to protect her. That’s what he promised David, and know she was gone. They all missed her; the cave seemed empty without her voice to chase the shadows away. He already missed the way she would laugh at his jokes.
Looking at David he could see the pain and fury growing in his friend and tried to say something.
As he stood to go to his friend, Paul fell to the ground. the other boys went to him with concern written on all their faces.
Slowly Paul lifted his head a smile on his beautiful lips. Looking at David, he gave this soft reply. “She’s alive and is requesting our help. What do you say guys? Are the Lost Boys going to revert back to being the way we were and get our own back?”
David was pleased Star was alive and sending signals to Paul. He should have known she would; the two were always close. And now it was time to bring his love home, and get rid of this new evil that has wormed his way into their lives. No one took what was his and lived to tell about it, and David knew just the people who would help in getting Star back.
David replied with a smile of his own and said with his usual sweet voice, “Boys, it’s time to pay a visit to Sam and the Frog Brothers. They owe us one and it’s now time to collect.”
