Great, thanks for all the information Pyro. I really appreciate it!!!

I have another question, (till I think of another)...

One of the things I noticed on that site was that the "personalities" were not included, just the skins. What does this mean, or should I say, how do I make theim inherit a "David" personality? Is this possible?

This is more of a rant....... Don't mind me. why did they make Sims 2 not be backwards compatable with Sims 1? I mean people spent a ton of money on the Sims 1, then only to have Sims 2 come out, and not be able to use them together? Whats the point of buying Sims 1 at all then? Does it do anything different at all?

I wonder if I asked my mom for the wrong game. : (

You don't download a personality; that's not how the game works. You decide what a Sim's personality will be like when you start the game, by choosing how outgoing they are, how playful or serious, etc. I could have created pre-made Lost Boys Sims, but I figured that since everyone has a slightly different opinion on what the boys would "really" be like--take CatLady's impression of Max versus mine, for example--it just seemed better to let each Simmer choose for themselves.

I don't think you need to worry about having gotten the wrong game. Sims 1 and 2 are very different; Sims 2 isn't so much of an improved version as it is a different game. I've heard of a fair number of people who had Sims 1 before getting Sims 2 and ended up not liking the second game as much because they felt it was over-complicated: primarily aspects regarding how the game ascribed goals to Sims, and that there were too many minor details to keep track of, and because of it all the player wasn't left with enough time to work on their own agendas, etc., which are fine in a game but show that Sims 2 clearly isn't just an improved version of the first game.

From everything I've heard, it seems to be just a matter of taste: Sims 1 is more representative, it relies more on creativity, but it gives you more freedom in what you do and how you do it. Sims 2 is more realistic, but you also have less freedom in how you play the game; it assigns you goals and keeps you busy, and if you're looking for the kind of freedom and open-endedness in the first game, you won't find it. Or at least not very much of it.

There's also the fact that Sims in S2 grow old and die after a while (which wouldn't affect vampire Sims, but what about the Frogs? Lucy? Grandpa??). In the first game, you can have the same Sims for as long as you like.

Thanks Pyro, for this explanation. It does make sense to me now. (finally!) I think I understand the difference between them now. Thanks a bunch. When I get it installed finally, Im sure I will be bugging you again. :)

I have a question myself (and sorry to drag this topic back from the grave).

I'm an old-bie Simmer, I have both 1 and 2. My question relates to Mod the Sims 2. I noticed that most of you got your skins and extras from there. Well, the last time I downloaded from that place, it threw my computer out of whack because it also downloaded a ton of spam pop-ups and such -- I now no longer have a (working) computer and have to borrow one from time to time because of such.

So my question is... has anyone else here had that problem with Mod the Sims 2? It could have been another downloading place, but I'm not positive, because I downloaded a ton of things from that particular site.

Basically, while I would love to download the Boys (or at least the David) from there and pop them into my game, I'm scared I might mess up someone else's computer -- and I can't have that. I just want to make sure it's safe before I go ahead.

I, personally, have never had a problem with MTS2. I've always used Q-Xpress to install content into my game, and it works beautifully (Considering my parents never knew, and the amount of stuff I chucked in there, it's saying something). There's no fuss with it: Click a little 'Q', up it comes, click 'install' when done. Boom. Darn they didn't update the program for Vista-When I use it, I have to reinstall it everytime. :-X

I adore the sims that ZombieGirl posted in the opening post, I'm jealous. Utterly. I think I'll go scour the interwebz to find something to satisfy the LB sims urge.

So Q-Xpress? Alright, awesome, thanks so much - I think I have some downloading to do now. :-D

Oh, gah, here comes my Sims obsession again, in full force... I think I'll create a Santa Carla myself. Haha.

Not a bad idea....

It helps that Q-Xpress was tested before MTS2 put it up, and it's really easy to use. I love it.

In fact, here's a link to the website (So you don't have to look for it):

Moved me to tears. So perfect! Dwayne in all his glory.
(Okay, Billy Wirth. But you know what I mean.)
So unexpected. So GOOD.

Sigh..pitter pat, pitter pat! Thump thump thump thump!

Yep, Billy is like a fine wine..He just gets better with age. And yes, I totally agree..his smile just makes me melt into a puddle of shapeless, jelly-like goo! There's some guys that are timeless and many consider them good looking well into their later years. Women in my mother's day still shiver over Sean Connery, Robert Redford and the late Paul Newman...

Billy Wirth may not be as famous as those guys, but his looks are that classic!
